Our ‘BREATHE NATURE’ explanation:

Ceropegia woodii or the “Chinese Lantern Plant“, gets its name from its lantern-shaped purple-coloured flowers. Yet the purple-coloured flowers are not the woodii’s only feature. Ceropegia woodii is described in English as “String-of-Hearts“, because of its long tendrils with heart-shaped leaves. These tendrils can easily grow up to a metre long with the right attention spans. For instance, Ceropegia likes a light-rich environment but not full sun, so indirect sunlight is ideal. It is interesting to turn the plant regularly, that way it grows fuller on several sides. This is because the plant grows towards the sun. Nevertheless, the sunnier the “Chinese Lantern Plant” is, the more clearly the pattern on the leaves becomes visible.

A “Chinese Lantern Plant” descends from the succulent genus, which is why it needs very little water. A splash of water once a week is more than enough, then the plant will grow well. In addition, it is important that the Ceropegia dries in the potting soil between waterings. Too much water can harm the plant! This is because Ceropegia woodii stores a lot of water from the root tuber it grows from. In winter, the plant hibernates, so even less water should be given.

All in one:

  • Just a sip of water once a week – not too much!
  • Or a dip in a water basin every three weeks.
  • Does not like direct sunlight, does like lots of light or a little shade.
  • Place the hanging plant at room temperature – nice and cosy!

“Enjoy every moment with your best friend forever from the ‘BREATHE NATURE’ collections!”
